Cavaliers coach: The Gambler threatened me

Cleveland Cavaliers coach JB Bickerstaff told reporters on March 20 that a gambler tracked down his phone number and "sent crazy messages about where I live, about my kids and all that stuff."
Bickerstaff went on to say that he shared the information with stadium guards, according to a report from The Associated Press. The gambler was located and escorted out of Rocket Mortgage Field House. The coach did not make a condemnation.
Last summer, when Gov. Mike DeWine included language in his budget that would allow the Ohio Casino Control Board to impose lifetime bans on sexual harassers, Ohio regulators were given increased authority to deal with bettors who threaten athletes. The state was the first state to pass legislation dealing with bullying in sports. Last month, the state banned individual college athletes from offering or offering.
In January 2023, Dayton basketball coach Anthony Grant reported that his players were threatened after losing the game, giving up a 14-point halftime lead. At the time, the OCCC threatened a lifetime ban.
